Young children are innately curious about a broad array of early academic concepts. They engage in playful learning by themselves as well as during informal social interactions with caregivers and peers. This process takes place across an array of contexts, including in homes, schools, museums, and other informal spaces. Children can engage in playful learning with traditional toys and games, digital apps, and e-books. In my work, I share my insights gained as an educational psychology researcher to guide families, teachers, other early childhood practitioners, and family-facing companies and organizations to engage young children in meaningful playful experiences that lead to early learning.
